How the converters work
Each page reads the file with the same importer the editor uses and writes it with the same exporter, in your browser. Guitar Pro files are read with alphaTab, an open-source library that understands every version from Guitar Pro 3 to 8; MusicXML and MIDI are read and written by SimpleNotation’s own code. The score never leaves your computer unless you choose Open in the editor and then save it.
Any other pair of formats works through the editor: import the file, then choose a format under Export in the ⋯ menu. The import and export pages say exactly what each format keeps.
Sheet music and tab
To turn notation into tab, or tab into notation, see sheet music to guitar tab and guitar tab to sheet music.
