Export guitar tab and sheet music
Everything you write in SimpleNotation can leave it in eight formats: for printing, sharing, other notation and tab software, DAWs and plain listening. All of them are free, carry no watermark and need no account.
- PDF.pdfPrint-ready pages for paper, tablets and students.
- PNG image.pngOne sharp image for chats, posts, worksheets and slides.
- Guitar Pro.gpGuitar Pro 7 and 8 files with tunings, techniques and repeats.
- Text tab.txtPlain-text tab to paste into forums, posts and messages.
- MusicXML.musicxmlThe full score for MuseScore, Sibelius, Dorico and Finale.
- MIDI.midNotes and tempo for GarageBand, Logic, Ableton and other DAWs.
- MP3 audio.mp3Audio to practise along with or send to a bandmate.
- WAV audio.wavUncompressed audio for DAWs and video editors.
Which format do I need?
| You want to… | Export |
|---|---|
| Print it, or read it on a tablet | |
| Share a picture of it in a chat or a post | PNG image |
| Open it in Guitar Pro, or upload it to Songsterr | Guitar Pro |
| Paste the tab into a forum, Reddit or a message | Text tab |
| Keep editing it in MuseScore, Sibelius, Dorico or Finale | MusicXML |
| Play it with your own sounds in a DAW | MIDI |
| Listen to it, practise along or send it to a bandmate | MP3 audio |
| Edit or mix the audio in a DAW or video editor | WAV audio |
How exporting works
Open a score in the editor, open the ⋯ menu at the top right of the editor and choose a format under Export. The file is made in your browser and downloads straight away; audio is rendered on your own computer too, and nothing is uploaded to make it.
SimpleNotation also imports Guitar Pro, MusicXML and MIDI files, so it works as a converter: open a Guitar Pro file and export MusicXML, turn a MIDI file into tab and a PDF, or bring an old .gp5 file into the current Guitar Pro format.
