Convert Guitar Pro to PDF
Drop a Guitar Pro file and download a PDF of the score: standard notation with the tab underneath, chord names, sections and repeats, on numbered pages ready to print or to read on a tablet. Free, with no watermark, and you do not need Guitar Pro.
The converter needs JavaScript. Without it, open the file in the editor and export it from the ⋯ menu.
How it works
- Drop your Guitar Pro file on the box above, or press Choose a file and pick it (.gp, .gp3, .gp4, .gp5, .gpx).
- The file is read in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
- The PDF file (.pdf) downloads straight away. Press Download to get it again, pick another format, or open the score in the editor.
What comes through
- Every track, as standard notation with its tab staff underneath, laid out on US Letter pages at 240 dots per inch
- Title, subtitle and composer at the top of the first page, and page numbers
- Chord names and diagrams, sections, repeats and endings, tempo marks, dynamics, lyrics and the guitar techniques (bends, slides, hammer-ons, harmonics, palm mute, let ring)
- Tunings and capo, written at the start of each tab
What changes
- Whammy bar dives and volume or pan changes during the song are not read; each track keeps its starting volume and pan
- A track with two staves (a piano, for example) becomes two parts, one per staff
- The layout is SimpleNotation’s own: line breaks, spacing and the look of the notation differ from Guitar Pro’s
- The pages are images, so the text in the PDF cannot be selected or searched
- Pages are US Letter size; on A4 paper, choose “Fit to page” when printing
The converter uses the same reader and writer as the editor. The details are on importing Guitar Pro and exporting PDF.
Print a tab without Guitar Pro
This page turns every version of the format, from .gp3 up to the .gp files of Guitar Pro 8, into printable pages with no licence, no watermark and no account.
Check it before you print
Press Open in the editor after converting to see the score, play it back, hide the notation or the tab for a track, change the tuning or the capo, or shorten it to the part you need; then export the PDF from there. Everything you change stays on your computer unless you save.
Tab only, or a single track
In the editor, each instrument has a “show standard notation” and “show tab” switch, and a track can be removed. Turn off the notation to get a tab-only PDF, or keep just the bass part for a bass player.
Questions
Is there a watermark on the PDF?
No. The pages carry only the music, the title and page numbers.
Does the PDF show notation and tab?
Both, for every guitar, bass, ukulele or other fretted track: the staff above and the tab below. Other instruments show notation only. Either staff can be hidden in the editor before exporting.
Can I convert a GP5 or GPX file to PDF?
Yes. Files from Guitar Pro 3 to 8 convert the same way.
Can I print on A4 paper?
Yes. The PDF uses US Letter pages; in the print dialog choose “Fit to page” and it prints on A4 with slightly wider margins.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is read and the PDF rendered in your browser. Nothing is sent to our server unless you open the score in the editor and save it.
